DESCRIPTION: On Friday, September 11, 1998, the Youth Advisory Committee sub-committee
conducted a dance called "Club Groove". The event started at 8:00 p.m. and concluded at 12:00 a.m. at
the Shannon Community Center. Club Groove was a Back To School Dance targeted for teens in the Tri
Valley Area. The theme of the event was "Hip-Hop" in the Valley. Admission for the event was $3.00
dollars in advance and $5.00 at the door. Students who possess High School ID., California ID., or
drivers license were admitted into the dance. Free Glow-necklaces were awarded to the first 100 teens
who arrived at the event. There was a brief dance contest and snack bar.. A variety of students, mostly
freshman and sophomores, from Dublin, Valley Christian, and Valley High School attended. The dance
attendance was approximately 70 high school participants.
Recommendation
Staff recommends that the Committee review and discuss Club Groove.
