SUBJECT: Events and Activities for 1998/99

RECOMMENDATION: Receive Report and Select Events and Activities for 1998/99
FINANCIAL STATEMENT: None
DESCRIPTION: On October 1, 1998 the Committee adopted Goals and Objectives for
1998/99. Among the objectives adopted was review of the 1998 Y.A.C. recommendations and select activities
and programs to be implemented by Y.A.C. for 1998/99. The following is a list of the 1998 YAC
recommendations:
Recommendations for Conducting Events and Activities: Recommended Events and Activities:
• Offer more successful events • Youth Awards Night
• Start small and build on success • Random Acts of Kindness Week
• .Have each Y.A.C.member head a sub-committee • Dub Town Jam
• Develop a sub-committee to help with event implementation • T-shirt Sales at the St. Patrick's Day Celebration
• Get Y.A.C. events on school calendars • Team building activities for Y.A.C.members
• Have Y.A.C. events listed in the newspaper • Summer pool parties like the"Dive In"
• Survey teens to find out what events and activities they want
In addition to the events and activities listed above, consideration should also be given to the activities
discussed by the 1998/99 YAC that are listed below:
• Tri-Valley Back to School Dance called"Club Groove"
• Lock-In
• Fundraisers-car wash,raffle tickets
Recommendation
Staff recommends that the Committee review, discuss and select events and activities to be conducted for
1998/99 and the months that they are to be conducted.
