SUBJECT: Ski and Snowboard Trip

FINANCIAL STATEMENT: None
DESCRIPTION: A sub committee was appointed to review options for a ski and
snowboard trip and make a decision about which trip to offer. However, after the sub committee met, it
was decided that the options for the trip should go back to the Youth Advisory Committee for final
selection. Below is a summary of the options for a ski and snowboard trip:
Option#1-Day Trip to Boreal Ski Area
Date: Monday,February 15th
Time: Depart 5:30am,Return 7:00pm
Cost: $55.00 Residents$63.00 Non-residents
Pro's: Successful track record,Affordable,Money in budget to do two trips
Con's: Offered on a Holiday(President's Weekend),Only one day of skiing/snowboarding
Option#2 Overnight Trip to Boreal Ski Area
Date: Sunday and Monday,February 14th and 15th
Time: Depart Sunday at 5:30am,Return Monday at 7:00pm
Cost: $129.00 Residents$148.00 Non-residents
.Pro's: Two days of skiing/snowboarding, Night skiing/snowboarding, Opportunity to play
group games and activities.
Con's: Expensive, Need more chaperones, Some middle school participants would not be
able to attend,Lodge has a no refund policy;requires payment up front to reserve.
Recommendation
Staff recommends that a day trip be offered on Monday, February 15th and that staff work with the Dublin
High School and Valley Christian High School to form a ski club to plan a second trip.
