DESCRIPTION: . In April 2007, the Heritage and Cultural Arts Commission received
a report on a new project entitled "Dublin Reads", coordinated by the Dublin Library to coincide with the
City of Dublin's 25th Anniversary. The goals identified for the project were to:
1) Provide an intergenerational, shared literary experience and opportunity for collaboration between
the City, the schools, Dublin Library and local organizations that would enhance and foster a sense
of community among the residents of the City of Dublin.
2) Use this shared experience to promote Dublin's 25th Anniversary as a City.
3) Promote the activities of the sponsoring agencies of the project including the Friends of Dublin
Library,Dublin Historical Preservation Association,Dublin Library and the City of Dublin.
Dublin Branch Librarian, Lee Jouthas, will be presenting an update on the programs and activities
scheduled to take place from October 2007 through April 2008, for the"Dublin Reads"project.
Lee Jouthas will also be providing information on a local history grant that the Dublin Library and the
Heritage Center have received from the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA), administered
through the California State Library, to digitize 200 photographs housed at the Heritage Center Museum.
The grant is part of the statewide California Local History Digital Resources Project providing permanent
public access and digital preservation of local history materials." -
RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that the Heritage and Cultural Arts Commission
receive the presentation by Dublin Library Branch Manager Lee Jouthas.
