Proposed Schedule of Events RECOMMENDATION: Approve Programs or Provide Alternate Direction FINANCIAL STATEMENT: None DESCRIPTION: In a continued effort to expose the Dublin Heritage Center to the community, a variety of workshops, exhibits and a winter concert series are planned for 2005-2006. Three workshops have been planned for next year. Two changes Staff would like to implement is to switch the workshop days from Sunday to Saturday this coming year and reduce the fee for children 12 and under from-$5 to $3. Attendance at the workshops in the past few years has not been optimal. Staff feels that Sunday is a more passive day for families, and that changing the workshops to Saturday may attract more parents and kids. In addition, Staff has received feedback from attendees that, the $5 fee may be prohibitive for kids, especially for large families. The workshops are therefore planned for Saturdays from 1:00 —4:00 p.m. in the historic Murray Schoolhouse with a fee of$5 for adults and $3 for children 12 and under. Two exhibits are planned that will be open to the public during the museum's regular hours, Wednesday through Sunday from 1:00—4:00 p.m. with free admission. The Winter Concert Series events will be held on Saturdays in October, November, December, January and February from 7:00 — 8:00 p.m. in the historic St. Raymond's Church. The cost of admission will again be$10 for adults and$5 for children. For the past two years, four workshops and three exhibits have typically been offered at the Murray Schoolhouse. However, because of the new Exhibit Restoration project, permanent exhibits are going to be installed in the Murray School during the winter of 2005-2006. Therefore, the number of workshops and exhibits has been scaled back to accommodate the installation schedule. A new event is also proposed in March 2006 to celebrate the 150th Anniversary of the Murray Schoolhouse and the grand opening of the new permanent exhibits. The proposed schedule of events is Attachment 1. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that the Heritage and Cultural Arts Commission receive the report from Staff and approve programs or provide alternate direction.
