FINANCIAL STATEMENT: None DESCRIPTION: The City is sponsoring Dublin's 8th Annual Summer Concerts series this summer. Five free concerts will be held on Friday evenings, beginning July 9th and ending August 6th, 2004. The concerts are held from 7:00- 9:00 p.m. outdoors at the Dublin Civic Center in the plaza area. Following is the lineup for the 2004 series: July 9th Busta Groove Billed as Northern California's hottest 70's; 80's, 90's and Motown party band. The band features the music of Santana, The B-52s, the Commodores, KC and the Sunshine Band and other serious dance music from the last four decades. July 16th . Zydeco Flames This is the premiere Zydeco band for the west coast. Their eclectic, soulful style ignites the stage wherever they perform. Zydeco fans will be energized by their tight rhythm section and unique brand of Louisiana-spiced playing. Their fifth CD released, "Bank the Fire," was released in 2003, providing fans with hot Zydeco in the tradition of the masters like Clifton Chenier,Buckwheat Zydeco and Queen Ida. July 23rd . Don's Neighbor's Your favorite neighbors-hood rock and roll band, with a diverse and interesting blend of original rock and classic rock covers from yesterday and today. This band has what it takes to keep an audience poppin' for hours of fun and old time rock and roll. July 30th Downtown Allstars with David Ladd The Downtown Allstars are a contemporary jazz band made up of some of the premiere studio and club musicians in the Bay Area. Their sound is a unique blend of instrumental and vocal music combining Jazz, Motown, R & B, Funk, Salsa, Reggae, and Caribbean. Jazz listeners will enjoy their outstanding vocals, contagious rhythm, virtuoso musicianship and energetic performance. This cover band plays everything from the Yardbirds to the Grass Roots. The band members' clothes, hair, love beads and vintage instruments are reminiscent of the 1960's. RECOMMENDATION: It is the recommendation of Staff that the Heritage and Cultural Arts Commission receive the report from Staff • -2-
