HomeMy WebLinkAbout7.2 Public Art Plaques CITY OF DUBLIN • HERITAGE AND CULTURAL ARTS COMMISSION AGENDA STATEMENT MEETING DATE:April 17, 2003 SUBJECT: Public Art Plaques Report Prepared by Theresa Yvonne, Heritage& Cultural Arts Supervisor ATTACHMENTS: Mock up of Plaque provided by Sign Pro Sample of recommended fonts Photo of other plaques Sample of plaque (provided at meeting) RECOMMENDATION: Review the mock up of the plaque; review available fonts, approve plaque for fabrication. FINANCIAL STATEMENT: $1,710.00 was allocated in the budget for plaques for City owned artwork. DESCRIPTION: In 2001-2002 the Dublin City Council rated as a high priority goal: to install identification plaques on all City owned artwork in the community. As requested at the March 13, 2003 meeting Staff has a mockup of a brass plaque provided by Sign Pro (attachment 1), a list of recommended fonts (attachment 2), photos of other plaques (attachment 3) and a sample plaque provided by Sign Pro (provided at the meeting). The plaque would be installed in an appropriate location for all the City owned artwork in the community. The plaques will be uniform in size and information; each plaque stating the title of the piece, the artist, the year completed and the City logo. In the case of the Art in the Parks artwork, the Dublin Fine Arts Foundation will also be included on the plaque. RECOMMENDATION: It is the recommendation of Staff that the Commission review the plaque options and approve the plaque mockup for fabrication.
