Youth Advisory Committee Goals for 2010-2011 Staff Member Luna stated to Committee Members that when establishing goals for the 2011-2012 term, they should consider the interests and issues of youth and teens in Dublin or what they believe they are currently dealing with. After a brainstorming session, Committee Members came up with four possible issues or interests that Members could establish as goals for the term. The issues that the Committee Members came up with, which they thought could be good projects to accomplish as goals for their term were: • Educating Students regarding the negative effects of"Texting and Driving." • Plan fundraising activities for the Youth Fee Assistance Program. • Provide students with resources so they can better deal with stress from too much homework, sports, SAT testing, college applications and peer pressure. • Provide resources or educate students on how to deal with"bullying." The Committee Members had a lot of comments regarding these issues but, as a Committee, the Committee Members did not decide on which goals to pursue. The meeting was running late so the Members wanted to continue the discussion regarding these topics and decide on goals for the term at the next Youth Advisory Committee meeting in July.
