Introduction of Dublin Police Services Captain Garrett Holmes

The City Council will be introduced to Captain Garrett Holmes of Dublin Police Services.

DESCRIPTION:
The Fiscal year 2015-16 budget included the addition of a new Police Captain for Dublin Police
Services. This position will significantly enhance the existing management structure at Dublin
Police Services, as it will fill an existing gap in the organizational structure. Interviews were
recently conducted with three highly qualified candidates for the position. Captain Garrett
Holmes was selected to fill the new position and began working in Dublin on September 27.
Garrett Holmes began work with the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO) as a Deputy in
1994. In 1999, he transferred to Dublin Police Services where he served for 10 years in
numerous assignments including patrol, crime prevention, investigations, school resource
officer, field training officer, patrol supervisor, administration sergeant and field training officer
supervisor. He was promoted to Lieutenant in 2009 and in 2012 he was chosen to serve as the
Captain at the Oakland Airport Police Services.
