Item 8.1 From: Z Zhuang - Sent: Sunday, September 13, 2015 10:39 PM To: Luke Sims Subject: No More Housing Developments! We Want Our"Promenade". Dear Mr. Sims, I recently received the public meeting notice regarding turning the"promenade"that was promised to Dubliners into a housing development. I was dumbfounded. As a Board Member of the Sorrento East Master Association, I am deeply concerned about this proposal. Our residents already live in a neighborhood with extremely high population density, very limited access to retail and commercial areas, and severe school overflow problems. The project in question—The Grafton Street project--was promised to Dubliners as our community gathering place and a pedestrian- friendly retail promenade, which is necessary to the quality of life of our residents and the development of a healthy community. What are essential to the existing residents of our community? More schools, more pedestrian-friendly retail areas, more parks, and more business to our city -everything but more housing, more traffic, and less resource to everybody. Yet we have had it again and again: no more land to build more schools, no more land to build parks,no more land for retail and commercial use, etc. However, we always have more land for residential?Yea, sounds about right. Businesses are moving to our neighbor cities. Everybody is witnessing, as Dublin gradually becomes nothing but a huge residential pot. We are not dumb. We will do whatever we can to stop this nonsense, for the quality of life of our residents, for the prosperous future of Dublin, and for our dignity of not being misled and mistreated. We want our voice heard. We already have an online petition against this proposal with over 1,100 signatures from our residents (hups://www.change.org/picity-council-members-of-dublin-ca I i forma-and-summer-hill-homes-vote-no-to-housing-on-parcels-2-3-4- unless-pedestrian-friendly-retail-on.parcel-2-he ns-prior-with-task-force-approval). Sorrento East will not let this happen without a serious fight. Many upset residents have already been discussing a recall of elected officials who continuously scratch the backs of developers. I am not sure if we really need to go down that route to make this work but I completely understand their frustration, which has led to this point of eruption. Thank you very much for your consideration and understanding of our goal and effort in stopping turning a well-deserved "promenade"by Dubliners into another housing development. Best regards, Zhong Zhuang, Ph.D.
