SUBJECT: Acceptance of the GFOA Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for the City of
Dublin's FY 2014-15 and FY 2015-16 Adopted Budget and Financial Plan

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
The City of Dublin has received its first Distinguished Budget Presentation Award, conferred by
the Government Finance Officers Association, for its FY 2014-15 and FY 2015-16 Adopted
Budget and Financial Plan.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
None.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that the City Council receive the report and accept the award.

DESCRIPTION:
The Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) is a professional association of finance
officers in the government industry since 1906. The purpose of the Government Finance
Officers Association is to enhance and promote the professional management of governments
for the public benefit by identifying and developing financial policies and best practices and
promoting their use through education, training, facilitation of member networking, and
leadership.
The GFOA established the Distinguished Budget Presentation Awards Program in 1984 to
encourage and assist state and local governments to prepare budget documents of the very
highest quality that reflect both the guidelines established by the National Advisory Council on
State and Local Budgeting and the GFOA's best practices on budgeting, and then to recognize
individual governments that succeed in achieving that goal.

This is the first time that the City of Dublin is being recognized with this award, a testament to
the City's renewed focus on excellence in financial reporting, accountability, and transparency.
Last year, a total of 1,424 agencies (cities, counties, school districts, and special districts)
across the nation received the award: 96 of those were California cities.
