FINANCIAL STATEMENT: None DESCRIPTION: weekend of March 13-14, 2004. begun preparing for the events. The 21st Annual St. Patrick's Day Celebration is scheduled for the The St. Patrick's Day Liaison Committee has met once and Staff has FESTIVAL ARTWORK Each year the City commissions an artist to prepare unique artwork for the event poster. The City has been using the same layout for the poster for the past five years which features the festival artwork surrounded by a green border listing the event information. It is important to continue using the same format since people now associate the colorful posters with the St. Patrick's Day Festival. Staff recommends selecting a photo from last year's St. Patrick's Day Celebration and having a local artist from the Senior Center create a watercolor painting of the photo. Attachment 1 contains four photos from past St. Patrick's Day events that are indicative of Dublin's celebration of St. Patrick's Day. Option A depicts a bagpiper in the parade. Option B features two boy's riding a carnival ride at the festival. Option C captures a brother and sister wearing green hats and holding hands while watching the parade. Option D features a young girl dressed in green waving to the passing parade. The St. Patrick's Day Liaison Committee and the Parks and Community Services Commission have both reviewed the artwork. Both groups unanimously recommended Option C, which features the brother and sister watching the parade. The Committee recommended having the artist change the background of the photo to feature parade elements rather than the backsides of other parade spectators. COPIES TO: st.
