Foss, Acting City Manager SUBJECT: Request for the Placement of White Ribbons on City Street Trees to Recognize Peace and Hope Prepared by Taryn Gavagan Bozzo, Executive Aide EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: The City Council will consider a request from Colleen Greer Pearson for the annual placement of white ribbons on City street trees and poles to recognize White Ribbons for Peace and Hope during the first two weeks of December. Additionally, the City Council will recognize the Peace and Hope effort held in December 2013. FINANCIAL IMPACT: None. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that the City Council authorize the annual White Ribbons for Peace and Hope campaign in Dublin to be held during the first two weeks of December and recognize the December 2013 effort. Submitted By Acting Assistant City Manager DESCRIPTION: Colleen Greer Pearson, a Dublin resident, desires to conduct an annual campaign called White Ribbons for Peace and Hope to recognize “peace for today, and hope for tomorrow.” This annual campaign would be held during the first two weeks of December in Dublin. White ribbons would be placed on City street trees and poles with the assistance of community volunteers. The White Ribbons for Peace and Hope campaign was held in December 2013. Approximately 800 white ribbons were placed on City street trees and poles and were scheduled to be removed by December 15, 2013. ITEM NO. 3.2 Page 1 of 2 Approval of this request would enable placement of the white ribbons along Dublin Boulevard, starting at Tassajara Road, down to Village Parkway, and ending at Dublin High School.
