HomeMy WebLinkAbout8.3 Three Year Exibit Plan for Heritage Park & Museum AGENDA STATEMENT CITY OF HERITAGE AND CULTURAL ARTS COMMISSION DUBLIN MEETING DATE: December 12, 2013 SUBJECT: Three Year Exhibit Plan for the Heritage Park and Museums Prepared by Elizabeth isles, Heritage Center Director ATTACHMENTS: 1)Three Year Exhibit Plan RECOMMENDATION: Receive report FINANCIAL STATEMENT: None DESCRIPTION: The Dublin Heritage Park and Museums offer an ever-changing selection of temporary exhibits to complement the permanent exhibit interpreting Dublin's founding and development. Temporary exhibits allow the City to present a variety of local history topics. The goal is always education and promotion of an understanding and appreciation of Dublin's past. In the past twelve years the City has hosted twelve exhibits in the Little Classroom of the Murray Schoolhouse: 2001 The Rancher's Wife (loan from the Museum of the San Ramon Valley) 2002 Local Women Artists (Curated by Joe Sibilia) 2003 Day of the Dead (Curated by Elizabeth Isles and Joe Sibilia) 2004 Cultural Fragments; Growing Up Chinese American in Dublin (Curated by Amy Lam) 2005 Gold Fever (rented from the California Exhibition Resource Association) 2006 The Story of Harness Racing (loaned Harness Racing Hall of Fame) 2007 Recovered Views; Portraits 1912-1925 (rented National Endowment for the Humanities) 2008 Farm Life (grant from the National Endowment for the Humanities) 2009 John Green; Dublin Pioneer(curated by Mike Lynch-Green family descendant) 2010 Minnie Martin; Dublin's Darling (curated by Elizabeth Isles) 2011 From Darryshannoge to Dublin;the story of the Donlon Family(curated by Elizabeth Isles) 2012 We Can Build, We Can Fight: U.S. Navy Seabees WWII Dublin (curated by Maggie Stockel) With the acquisition of the Camp Parks Collection the City now presents two exhibits per year; one focusing on local history and one focusing on Camp Parks. Staff has outlined a schedule of exhibits for the next three years. A description of the planned exhibits has been provided in the attached document (Attachment 1). This exhibit will explore those relationships and against the impact of the war. The last Camp Parks exhibit focused on the work of the Seabees; We Build it We Fight.
