This project is funded through the Federal Hazard Elimination Safety Program ($127,000), City General Fund ($22,610) and Gas Tax ($55,000). DESCRIPTION: On June 17, 2003, the City Council authorized Staff to solicit bids for Contract No. 02-10, Traffic Signal Upgrade - Village Parkway/Amador Valley Boulevard. This project' will upgrade the traffic signal system at Village Parkway/Amador Valley Boulevard by replacing underground wires for the traffic signal and all signal poles with new standard poles. As previously approved by the City Council, improvements will also include the elimination of the free right- turn island at the southeast comer of the intersection and extension of the curb, gutter and sidewalk to provide an area for possible landscaping. A total of 7 bids were received (Attachment 2). The low bidder is Brown & Fesler, Inc., with a bid of $123,952.00. Staff has reviewed the bids and determined that the contractor has satisfactorily performed similar projects for other cities. Staff therefore recommends that the City Council adopt the resolution awarding Contract No. 02-10 to Brown & Fesler, Inc. COPIES TO: Bidders g:hniscprojWPW-AVB Traffic Signal. S Award ITEM NO. RESOLUTION NO. -03 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DUBLIN AWARDING CONTRACT NO. 02-10 TRAFFIC SIGNAL UPGRADE - VILLAGE PARKWAY/AMADOR VALLEY BOULEVARD TO BROWN & FESLER, INC. WHEREAS, the City of Dublin did, on August 19, 2003, publicly open, examine, and declare all sealed bids for doing the work described in the approved Plans, Specifications, and Modifications for Contract No. 02-10, Traffic Signal Upgrade - Village Parkway/Amador Valley Boulevard, authorized by the City Council on June 17, 2003, which Plans, Specifications, and Modifications are hereby expressly referred to for a description of said work and for all particulars relative to the proceedings under the request for bids; and WHEREAS, said bids were submitted to the Director of Public Works, who has recommended that the bid hereinafter mentioned is the lowest and best bid for doing said work; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Dublin does hereby award City of Dublin Contract No. 02-10 to the lowest responsible bidder therefor, to wit, Brown & Fesler, Inc., at a bid of One Hundred Twenty-Three Thousand, Nine Hundred Fifty-Two Dollars and No Cents ($123,952.00), the particulars of which bid are on file in the Office of the Director of Public Works.
