Thompson, Public Works Director ATTACHMENTS: RECOMMENDATION:~ 1) Resolution 2) Bid Results Adopt resolution awarding bid to Farwest Safety FINANCIAL STATEMENT: Budgeted for construction: Engineer' s estimate: Low bid received: The cost of this project is paid tiom the City's General Fund. $87,740 $42,380 $24,510 DESCRIPTION: On September 19, 2000, the City Council authorized Staff to solicit bids for Contract 00-13 Street Name Identification Sign Replacement. This project would replace all of the existing black and white street name signs with the adopted green-and-white shamrock logo street name signs that have been used in new subdivisions for several years. The new signs would include block number designations for arterial and collector streets. A total of three bids were received. The low bidder is Farwest Safety, with a bid of $24,5 t 0. Staff has reviewed the low bidder's proposal and checked with references and recommends that the City Council adopt the resolution awarding Contract 00-13 to Farwest Safety. g:XmiscprojXsns replacemenfiagstawrd COPIES TO: Bidders ITEM NO. RESOLUTION NO. -00 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DUBLIN AWARDING CONTRACT 00-13 STREET NAME IDENTIFICATION SIGN REPLACEMENT TO FARWEST SAFETY. WHEREAS, the City of Dublin did, on October 17, 2000, publicly open, examine, and declare all sealed bids for doing the work described in the approved Plans, Specifications, and Modifications for Contract 00-13, Street Name Identification Sign Replacement, authorized by the City Council on September 19, 2000, which Plans, Specifications, and Modifications are hereby expressly referred to for a description of said work and for all particulars relative to the proceedings under the request for bids; and WHEREAS, said bids were submitted to the City Engineer, who has recommended that the bid hereinafter mentioned is the lowest and best bid for doing said work. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Dublin does hereby award City of Dublin Contract 00-13 to the lowest responsible bidder therefor, to wit Farwest Safety, with a bid of Twenty Four Thousand Five Hundred Ten Dollars ($24,510), the particulars of which bid are on file in the Office of the City Engineer. PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 8th day of November, 2000.
