Thompson, Public Vt/or]cs Director ATTACHMENTS: 1) Resolution of Award 2) Summary of Bids RECOMMENDATIO dopt Resolution awarding bid to Chrisp Company FINANCIAL STATEMENT: 2003-2004 Street Maintenance Operating Budget for Striping: $ 35,000.00 From Gas Tax (206) Low Bid: $ 61,645.00 (2 years) NOTE: Staff will order striping work during the year as needed and stay within the FY 2003-2004 budget. The 2004-2005 approved budget will establish the actual amount of work to be accomplished in the second year of this contract. DESCRIPTION: In an effort to save annual bidding costs and provide continuity of work, the City's Striping and Marking Contract is for a two-year term. The operating budget for striping and marking includes the work contained within the Annual Overlay Contract, curb painting and emergency work performed by MCE, and this striping contract. As the City's current two-year Striping and Marking Contract was to expire on Jnne 30, 2003, Staff solicited bids for a new two-year term under Contract No. 03-12. The scope of work for this contract includes replacing existing pavement stTiping and marking. The City received three bids (see Attachment 2) for this contract. The low bidder is Chrisp Company with a bid of $61,645.00 for the two-year contract. This contract basically establishes unit prices for various striping bid items. Individual work orders will be priced based on these unit prices. Staff has reviewed the low bidder's proposal and recommends that the City Council adopt the resolution awarding Contract No. 03-12 to the Chrisp Company. COPIES TO: Bidders ITEM NO. g;knntcproj\striping\agstawrd.doc ~ ~.~ i RESOLUTION NO. - 03 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF DUBLIN AWARDING CONTRACT NO. 03-12, STRIPING AND MARKING CONTRACT TO CHRISP COMPANY WHEREAS, the City of Dublin did on June 17, 2003, publicly open, examine, and declare all sealed bids for doing the work described in the approved Plans, Specifications, and Modifications for Contract No. 03-12, Striping and Marking Contract, which Plans, Specifications, and Modifications are hereby expressly referred to for a description of said work and for all particulars relative to the proceedings under the request for bids; and WHEREAS, said bids were submitted to the City Engineer, who has reviewed the bids to determine the lowest bid which was responsive to the requirements of the bid documents; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of the City of Dublin does hereby award Contract No. 03-12 to the lowest responsible bidder therefor, to wit, Chrisp Company, at a bid of Sixty-One Thousand, Six Hundred Forty-Five Dollars and No Cents ($61,645.00), which bid shall cover the contract term of two years, the particulars of which bid are on file in the office of the City Engineer. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Mayor is authorized to execute the agreement. PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 1st day of July, 2003.
