Acceptance of Work - Contract No. 13 -04, Street Light Pole Painting Contract

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
On May 3, 2013, staff awarded Contract No. 13 -04, Dublin Ranch Street Light Pole Painting
Contract (CIP No. 960023), to California Custom Painting. The project consisted of painting 128
decorative street light poles in the Dublin Ranch Street Lighting Assessment District (1999 -1).
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
The total amount of the base bid was $18,575. As shown below, the actual cost of the work
completed is on budget.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that the City Council accept the improvements under Contract No. 13 -04,
Dublin Ranch Street Light Pole Painting Contract, and authorize the release of retention after 35
days.

DESCRIPTION:
The Dublin Ranch Street Light Pole Painting contract consists of painting 128 decorative street
light poles and fixtures in the Dublin Ranch Street Lighting Assessment District (1999 -1). The
paint on the decorative street light poles and fixtures has an expected lifespan of ten (10) years.
Street light poles that approach the ten (10) year lifespan are painted and funded through
revenue collected through the assessment district fees.
The street light pole painting project consists of removing existing street signs and brackets,
sanding and cleaning the street light poles, painting the decorative street lights, and
reinstallation of the street signs and brackets upon completion of the project.
The Street Light Pole Painting Contract included street lights located on the following streets, as
shown on the Location Map (Attachment 1):

The project work began at the end of May 2013 and was completed by the middle of June 2013.
Staff has reviewed the work performed under this contract and has determined that the work is
satisfactory and complete.
NOTICING REQUIREMENTS /PUBLIC OUTREACH:
Public Noticing is not required. A copy of the Staff Report was provided to the contractor.
