EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
The City Council will present a proclamation to Axis Community Health proclaiming April 7,
2013, as “Axis April Fools 5K Day”.

DESCRIPTION:
The City Council will present a proclamation to Axis Community Health proclaiming April 7,
2013, as “Axis April Fools 5K Day”.

A PROCLAMATION OF THE CITY COUNCIL
CITY OF DUBLIN, CALIFORNIA
“Axis April Fools 5K Day – April 7, 2013”
WHEREAS, Axis Community Health has provided quality, compassionate healthcare for over 40 years to the underserved
population of the Tri-Valley area, each year helping over 14,000 Tri-Valley residents; and
WHEREAS, Axis has been the safety net for residents of our City when they are unemployed, low-income, uninsured, or under-
insured; and
WHEREAS, population growth and economic downturns both have caused an increased need for services, with over 300 new
patients per month seeking help at Axis in 2012; and
WHEREAS, Axis offers inoculations and check-ups for children, pre-natal care for expectant mothers, nutritional education for
women with infants and children, treatment of illnesses for people of any age, behavioral counseling and substance abuse
intervention; and
WHEREAS, all Tri-Valley residents benefit when their neighbors are healthy and when health care costs are reduced by eliminating
unnecessary emergency room treatment and hospitalization through preventative healthcare; and
WHEREAS, the Foundation for Axis Community Health is planning their first-ever 5K walk/run event to raise funds to provide
direct services to more of our neighbors in need; and
WHEREAS, the event is known as the Axis April Fools 5K, “because staying healthy is no joke!”, and the event will take place on
April 7, 2013, in nearby Hacienda Business Park in Pleasanton, and participants are encouraged to wear costumes, “because laughter
is the best medicine.”
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Dublin City Council does hereby proclaim April 7, 2013 as Axis
April Fools 5K Day and encourages its residents to go to www.axisaprilfools5k.org to learn how they can
help this worthwhile event and the Axis Community Health Organization and those whom they serve.
