SUBJECT: Schematic Design for New Dublin Senior Center

DESCRIPTION: On December 3, 2002, on the recommendation of the Senior Center
Advisory Committee and Parks and Community Services Commission, the City Council selected a
preferred conceptual design for the new Dublin Senior Center. The conceptual design was created based
on the results of two prior Senior Center studies and extensive input from facility users.
In order to begin the "Design Development Phase" of the project the City must approve the schematic
design. Dahlin Group has taken the comments provided on the conceptual design and refined the floor
plan. The Architect has also prepared renderings of the proposed building elevations and facades based
on the schematic floor plan.
This will be one of several public meetings that will be held to receive community input as to the design
direction of the new Senior Center. Subsequent meetings will address the interior design elements as well
as more refined room details.
The schematic design including the refined floor plan and building elevations for the Senior Center was
presented to the Senior Center Advisory Committee on February 6, 2003 and to the Parks and Community
Services Commission on February 10, 2003. Both the Committee and the Commission were in favor of
the schematic design and recommend design approval by the City Council.
RECOMMENDATION: It is the recommendation of Staff that the City Council take the following
action:
1.Receive presentation by Staff and the Dahlin Group;
2. Receive public comment;
3. Approve the schematic design or provide alternate direction.
