Soto, City Clerk EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: The City Council will present proclamations to two Girl Scouts Gold Award recipients. FINANCIAL IMPACT: None RECOMMENDATION: Present proclamations. _.. . Submitted By City Clerk DESCRIPTION: t~ .,_~_ . ~. r~~". Reviewed By Assistant City Manager The City Council will recognize two Girl Scouts Gold Award recipients, Charlette Tanner and Rachel Reed. Ms. Tanner's Gold Award project consisted of putting on a Holiday Party for families in need in Richmond, California. For Ms. Reed's project, she planned and coordinated a Battle of the Bands event to help raise funds to purchase musical instruments for the Dublin High School Band. Proclamation for Rachel Reed Page 1 of 1 ITEM NO. 3.1 A PROCLAl-ZATION OF THE CITY CO UNCIL CITY OF D UBLIN CALIFORNIA "Girl Scouts Gold Award Recipient" WHEREAS, Miss Charlette Tanner, a Dublin High School Senior, has been a Girl Scouts member for i3 years; and WHEREAS, Miss Tanner earned her Gold Award in January 2oii after meeting all the pre-requisite steps to earning the award when she began her Gold Award Project in September, 2oio; and WHEREAS, the project consisted of putting on a holiday party for 4o families in need in Richmond, California, which provided several craft activities for the children, each child was given two gifts, had their photos taken with Santa, and each family received groceries to prepare a holiday meal; and WHEREAS, Miss Tanner will be recognized at the Gold Award Ceremony for her work in the community for the needy, to be held on November i2, 2oii, in Dublin. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that we, the Dublin City Council, do hereby proclaim November 12, 2oii, as Miss Charlette Tanner, Girl Scout Gold Award Recipient Day. DATED: November 1, 2011 Mayor Sbranti Vice Mayor Hart Councilmember Hildenbrand Councilmember Biddle Councilmember Swalwell A PROCLAl-ZATION OF THE CITY COUNCIL CITY OF D UBLIN CALIFORNIA "Girl Scouts Gold Award Recipient" WHEREAS, Miss Rachel Reed, a Dublin High School Senior, has been a Girl Scouts member for i3 years; and WHEREAS, Miss Reed earned her Gold Award in August 2oii after meeting all the pre-requisite steps to earning the award when she began her Gold Award Project in December, 2oio; and WHEREAS, the project consisted of planning and coordinating a Battle of the Bands event at Dublin High School to help funds to purchase musical instruments for the high school band and successfully raised funding for the purchase of a marimba for the band; and WHEREAS, Miss Reed will be recognized at the Gold Award Ceremony for her work in the promoting of music appreciation in the community, to be held on November i2, 2oii. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that we, the Dublin City Council, do hereby proclaim November 12, 2oii, as Miss Rachel Reed, Girl Scout Gold Award Recipient Day.
