SUBJECT: Red Ribbon Week Proclamation

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
Each year the department participates in NATIONAL RED RIBBON WEEK events at the
schools and in the community. Red ribbons are hung throughout the community and items with
drug free messages are distributed to students. Each student from Kindergarten to 5th grade will
receive an item.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
Sufficient funds are budgeted in the 2011-2012 Fiscal Year ($3,000) to fund Red Ribbon Week
activities.
RECOMMENDATION:
Present "Red Ribbon Week" proclamation to Dublin Police Services.

DESCRIPTION:
Red Ribbon Week encourages all citizens to participate in tobacco, alcohol and other drug
prevention programs and activities, making a visible statement and commitment to health drug-
free communities in which to raise a generation of drug=free youth.
