HomeMy WebLinkAbout3.4 Gift AcceptanceSTAFF REPORT CITY CLERK DUBLIN CITY COUNCIL File # DATE: June 7, 2011 TO: Honorable Mayor and City Councilmembers FROM: Joni Pattillo, City Manager 401 ( 0 3 0 SUBJEAcceptance of Gifts for the Heritage Park and Museums and Dublin Senior Center Prepared By: Paul McCreary, Assistant Director of Parks and Community Services, and Elizabeth Isles, Heritage Center Director EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: The City Council will receive a report on donations made during Fiscal Year 2010-2011 from Dublin individuals, businesses and local non-profit organizations to support the Heritage Park and Museums, and the Dublin Senior Center. Additionally, the City Council will be asked to accept a donated Studebaker Wagon, circa 1900, as an addition to the Heritage Park & Museums Collections. FINANCIAL IMPACT: The Heritage Park and Museums received $2,700 in monetary donations as well as several in - kind donations. The Dublin Senior Center received $3,100 in monetary donations as well as an in -kind donation. RECOMMENDATION: As per Government Code Section 37354, it is recommended that all gifts and contributions be formally accepted by the City Council. Therefore, Staff recommends that the City Council accept the gifts and direct Staff to prepare a formal acknowledgement to the various sponsors. It is further recommended that the City Council accept the Studebaker Wagon as part of the Heritage Park & Museums Collections. /9/luiddcta---- Submitted by: Reviewe Parks and Community Services Director Assistant City Manager Page 1 of 2 ITEM NO. 3 .4 DESCRIPTION: Staff from the Parks and Community Services Department actively seeks and obtains monetary and in-kind donations and sponsorships for a variety of programs and events. These donations help the Department augment the services provided to the community, enhance community facilities and maintain affordable participation fees. This report provides information about the donations received during Fiscal Year 2010-2011 for the Dublin Senior Center and the Heritage Park and Museums. Dublin Senior Center The City received several donations to the Senior Center during Fiscal Year 2010-2011 to help provide free coffee for seniors and enhance events. The donations are as follows: Dublin Senior Foundation $1,000 Sponsorship of the Free Coffee program In-Kind Stainless Steel Kitchen Cart Ms. Patricia Hughes $2,000 Sponsorship of the Free Coffee program Ms. Helen Jue $100 Donations for General Use on Activities Dublin Heritaqe Park and Museums During Fiscal Year 2010-2011, the City received a number of gifts from individuals and other organizations to enhance the new Kolb facilities at the Heritage Park and Museums, and to help underwrite the cost to publish a new book about the Kolb Family. The donations are as follows: Dublin Historical Preservation Assoc. In-Kind Computer and software for archival work In-Kind Restoration of the Studebaker Wagon In-Kind Contracted a Conservation Consultant $200 Docent Aprons Mr. Casey Strom / World of Shoes $1,500 Kolb House Reception Room text panel and Digital Photo Frame Ms. Carol Strom $500 Toward publication of the Kolb book Ms. Claudia McCormick $500 Toward publication of the Kolb book Livermore Heritage Guild In-Kind Studebaker Wagon, circa 1900 Questers In-Kind Custom table for Kolb House Workroom It is recommended by Staff that the Studebaker Wagon donated by the Livermore Heritage Guild be added to the ongoing Collections list for the Heritage Park and Museums.
