Over the past year, an Oral History Program Steering Committee was established comprised of Heritage and Cultural Arts Commission members Georgean Vonheeder-Leopold, Steve Minniear and Connie Mack. The Committee has met throughout the year and completed the project goals including; working with a consultant to establish program practices, developing a training manual, completing workshop trainings for ten volunteers, conducting and transcribing four interviews and working with Tri-Valley Community Television to develop a training video and public outreach video. With all of the goals completed, the project can now become an ongoing program. The Committee has recommended the attached Program Criteria which will provide guidance to City Staff to carry out the Oral History Program. In addition, the Committee is recommending that a service be provided, for a fee, for those who wish to have an oral history conducted for their own private use that is not part of the on-going program. The Commission is being asked to give conceptual approval for the fees listed. These fees and additional heritage and cultural arts program fees will be presented to the Commission at the August 12, 2010 meeting, as part of the Amendment to the Fee Resolution. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that the Heritage and Cultural Arts Commission receive the report and approve the Oral History Program criteria.
