DESCRIPTION: On February 1, 2000, the City Council awarded Contract No. 00-02, Arterial Landscaping Improvements, to DB Landscape. This project originally consisted of two projects in the City's Capital Improvement Program, namely 1) City Entrance LandsCaping Improvements, and 2) Major Arterial Tree Well/Median Planting. These projects were incorporated into one contract to reduce construction and administration costs. On April 4, 2000, City Council approved contract change order No. 2 to include landscaping improvements on Stagecoach Road with this project. The City Entrance Landscaping Improvements project enlarged and improved bedding areas at the City entrances on Village Parkway at Kimball Avenue and on San Ramon Road at Alcosta Boulevard. The new plantings provided color and a "signature statement" entering the City. In addition, new flowering shrubs were planted in all median tree wells on Dublin Boulevard from San Ramon Road to Dougherty Road, on Amador Valley Boulevard from San Ramon Road to east of Village Parkway, and on all of San Ramon Road and Village Parkway. Some of the shrubs in the median bedding areas were replaced with more colorful varieties. Stagecoach Road landscaping improvements included new plantings on the east slopes and the placing of cobblestones in the landscaping strip along the eastside of Stagecoach Road. Staff recommends that the City Council accept Contract No. 00-02, Arterial Landscaping Improvements, and authorize the release of retention in the amount of $6,906.60 after 35 days if there are no subcontractor claims. 2
