HomeMy WebLinkAbout8.2 Committee Appts OF ID ~ 19~~~~?~~`82 AGENDA STATEMENT HERITAGE AND CULTURAL ARTS COMMISSION MEETING DATE: January 10, 2008 SUBJECT: Committee Appointments Prepared by John Hartnett, Heritage & Cultural Arts Supervisor ATTACHMENTS: None RECOMMENllATION: Make Appointments FINANCIAL STATEMENT: None DESCRIPTION: There are committees that require the representation of a member of the Heritage and Cultural Arts Commission. As per the Bylaws and Rules of Procedure for the Commission, "The Commission or the Chairperson, upon direction of the Commission, may appoint several of its members, but less than a quorum, to serve as a Committee". A summary of the various committees and the current representatives and alternates are shown below. Art Takes Place Steerinit Committee An ad-hoc committee whose purpose is to provide support to the Dublin Pine Arts Poundation on recommendations for art programs for the Art Takes Place regional project. Representative: Georgean Vonheeder-Leopold Alternute: Connie Mack Art Selection Committee- Dublin Transit Center An ad-hoe committee whose purpose is to provide the City Council with a recommendation on artwork for the Dublin Transit Center development. Representative: Mury Beth Acuff Alternate: Judy Lussie Selection Committee - Poet Laureate An ad-hoc committee whose purpose is to assist the Mayor with the selection process for a City Council appointed Poet Laureate. Representative: Anita Carr COPIF,S TO: ITEM NO: 8.2 G:\HERITAGG COMMISSION\AGENDA STMTS\2008\ I - 10-08 Committee Appts.doc Selection Committee - Local Historian An ad-hoc committee whose purpose is to assist the Mayor with the selection process for a City Council appointed Local Historian. Representative: Eric Swalwell Museum Assessment Committec (Delete) An ad-hoc committee whose purpose is to provide the City Council with a recommendation for an assessment and development of a strategic plan for the Dublin Heritage Center. Representatives: Mary Belh Acuff,Judy Lussie Alternate: Eric Swalwell Shannon Communitv Center-Public Art Selection Committee (De%te) An ad-hoc committee whose purpose is to provide the City Council with a recommendation on artwork far the Shannon Community Center project. Representatives: Mary Beth Acuff Alternate: Judy Lussie Two Committees whose goals were completed this past year include the Museum Assessment Committee and the Shannon Community Center-Public Art Selection Committee. Future phases oP the Museum Assessment Program (MAP) will require Staff to work directly with the MAP Consultant to expand on the outlined goals identified by the Committee during the Phase I process. The Shannon Community Center Public Art process was completed in December 2007 with the acceptance of the public art recommendations by the City Council. Therefore it is recommended that these two committees be deleted from the Heritage and Cultural Aris Commission Committees list. RECOMMENDATION: It is the recommendation of Staff that the Heritage and Cultural Arts Commission review the current committee appointments and make changes and/or appointments to the various committees as deemed necessary. 2 of 2
