Mr. and Mrs. Houston would like to plant a tree in memory of James H. Moran. Mr. Moran was a Tri-Valley resident and Dublin businessman who died in 1999, A small brass plaque would be placed near the tree stating the tree is in memory of Mr. Moran. There would be no expense to the City. If the request is approved by the City Council, Staff recommends that the City's Parks and Facilities Development Manager review possible planting sites'and suggest the type of tree that will conform to the Heritage Center landscape design and to the space available. Given that this is the second request for memorial tree planting in recent months, Staff recommends development of a memorial policy. The policy would be developed with input from the Heritage and Cultural Arts Commission and the Parks and Community Services Commission. In conclusion, it is the recommendation of Staffthat the City Council take the following action: 1) Approve request for memorial tree planting at the Dublin Heritage Center; 2) Direct Staff to develop a memorial policy with input from the Heritage and Cultural Arts Commission and the Parks and Community Services Commission.
