FINANCIAL STATEMENT: There is no financial impact to the City. New street name signs will be installed by the Dublin Toyota project. DESCRIPTION: The Dublin Toyota dealership is in the process of relocating to the former Dublin Ford / Autonation site, situated, at 4600 Dublin Boulevard, which is south of Dublin Boulevard (shown in blue on the location map, Attachment 4). A letter has. been received dated September 10, 2008, from Dublin Toyota requesting that the portion of Myrtle Drive south of Dublin Boulevard be renamed Toyota Drive. The existing southern portion of Myrtle Drive accesses the dealership and the eastern entrance to the Hacienda Crossings shopping center. None of the businesses located on either side of the southern portion of this street have Myrtle Drive addresses. While there are two parcels that could have addresses on this street, one parcel is currently vacant and has not been issued an address. Consequently, the only address that would require changing if the Council approves the renaming is for the dealership, which is requested to become 4321 Toyota Drive. In order to change the name of a street, notice must be made to various neighboring agencies, the Post Office,. and emergency services providers to ensure that there are no similarly named streets in the area. Section 7.08.070 of the Municipal Code states that if there are no addresses in use on a street, the name of ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ COPY TO: r_d Cdr-1~,lvs ,Ow~-cY Oubl~n Tcy~~Fa. Dublin Toyota is the new, owner-operator of the site formally known as Ford/Auto Nation in Eastern Dublin. As part of our application process to commence business on the site, we are asking the City of Dublin to allow us to change the address of the property to "Toyota Drive". The current street address of this property is actually a Dublin Boulevard address. To get to the site you have to exit Dublin Blvd and enter Myrtle Drive before arriving to the auto sales location. This is very confusing to the public and nullifies the freeway frontage advantage the. property enjoys. We also feel that this change will be an asset to the Hacienda Crossings Entertainment Center. The easier our customers find the location, the bigger benefit to all. In addition, public safety will be able to locate our property much easier. The current Dublin Blvd address could pose dangerous delays to our site. In conclusion, we ask that you facilitate our request as soon as possible. We are undergoing plans for marketing the Grand Opening and wish to use the name change as a part of our programs. I thank you in advance for your positive consideration. If you have any questions please call my office at 925-551-0500 or contact our local representative, Guy Houston at 925- 487-5839.
