Since completion of the restoration project "The Journey" which opened in August 2006, Staff has focused its efforts on completing improvements to the classroom space adjacent to the exhibit. In the past year the classroom has been re-painted (courtesy of the Cornerstone Fellowship Church), a professional wall hanging system has been installed, and an archives storage cabinet has been installed against one entire wall of the classroom. As a way of enhancing the improvements made to the Murray Schoolhouse classroom, the Dublin Historical Preservation Association has generously contributed much needed items for the classroom including: twelve new chairs and an easel for classes; a CD player; a decorative artificial fireplace; a vintage dress form; and two lamps. The total value for the items donated is $888. RECOMMENDATION: As per Government Code Section 37354, it is recommended that all gifts and contributions be formally accepted by the City Council. Therefore, Staff recommends that the City Council accept the gifts and direct Staff to prepare a formal acknowledgement to the Dublin Historical Preservation Association.
