Direction on Regal Cinemas proposed Grand Opening Event

RECOMMENDATION:
1) Receive presentation from Regal Cinemas
2) Discuss the proposal from Regal Cinemas and provide staff
with appropriate direction.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT: No fiscal impact at this time.
DESCRIPTION: Regal Cinemas is planning to open the long-awaited Hacienda 20
and IMAX at the Hacienda Crossing Shopping Center on Friday, May 5, 2000.
The City of Dublin has been approached by officials of Regal Cinemas about Regal Cinemas hosting a
community fund-raising event prior to the theatre's opening. Regal Cinemas has offered the use of the
theatre complex for the evening of May 3, 2000 for the fund-raising event. Staff has placed this item on
the agenda so the City Council can discuss Regal Cinemas' offer and to provide staff with the appropriate
direction, if any.
Mr. Jeff Jenkins, General Manager of the Hacienda 20 and IMAX, will make a brief presentation.
RECOMMENDATION: It is staff's recommendation that the City Council 1) receive the proposal
from Regal Cinemas, and 2) discuss the proposal from Regal Cinemas and provide staff with appropriate
direction.
