a 2-year term and Shawn Costello as alternate on the W AAC.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT: None
DESCRIPTION: The WHEELS Accessible Advisory Committee (W AAC) is an
advis')(y committee to the Livermore Amador Valley Transit Authority (LA VTA) Board of Directors on
matters regarding the nsability of the WHEELS bus system. Each member agency appoints two regular
members and one alternate to this committee.
In accordance with the Bylaws of the W AAC, each mcmber City shall each select and appoint two (2)
member representatives and one (I) alternate member to the Committee.
Wendy Lockhart was appointed as one of the City's member representatives in June 2004. At this time,
the Mayor recommends the appointment of Ray Garret to serve as the City's second member
representative for a two-year term (expiring in June 2007), and the appointment of Shawn Costello as
alternate.

Dear Mayor Lockhart:
Greetings from WHEELS! We are writing today to inform you of openings on the WHEELS
Accessible Advisory Committee (W AAC). The W AAC acts as the disability advocacy
committee for LA VT A and meets quarterly to discuss pertinent issues regarding service to the
disabled community in the Tri-Valley. Each City in the LA VTA service area has two
appointments to the W AAC, and an alternate.
For fiscal year 2006, we have two openings representing the City of Dublin on the W AAC. A
regular committee seat and the alternate committee seat. Each open seat has a tenn of two (2)
years. The term begins in July 2005 and conclude in June 2007. The City of Dublin 's other
representative, Wendy Lockhart has a term that expires in June 2006. A list of current
representation and tentative meeting schedule for FY 06 has been attached.
The process for fil1ing these positions is as follows:
I. LA VT A places advertisements on the wheelsbuS.com website detailing the openings for
the committee and contact information.
2. Interested parties fill out an application. Due dates for applications are subject to the
discretion of each city. LA VT A will stop accepting applications by May 20, 2005. Any
applications received by LA VTA will be immediately forwarded to your city clerk for
processmg.
3. It is requested that the Dublin City Council ratify all appointments to the W AAC at its
convenience during June 2005.
4. After ratification by the Council, please forward correspondence indicating the council
actions to LA VT A, care of the General Manager.
5. Council's appointments are then placed before the LA VTA Board of Directors for final
ratification at its July 11, 2005 meeting.
If neither LA VT A, nor the city receives any new interest in the vacant seats, the current
Committeemembers can continue to serve at the discretion ofthe Mayor and city council.

Attached you will find one original applicati011 received from Mr. Ray Oan-et of Dublin. He has
expressed interest in the openings on the Wheels Aocessible Advisory Committee and LA VTA
received his application in accordance with stated policy. LA VT A has received inquiries of
intereat from Sean Costello, but did not receive any application.
We will be taking all oity appointmomts to the LAVTA Board of DirectOfS July 2005 meeting for
final ratification. The first meeting of the WAAC for FY 2006 is Wednesday, July 20, 2005.
