rWATIONAL ARSON A WARENESS WEEK 2005"
WHEREAS, juvenile arson is a serious crime that qfJedS all people and can onlY be stopped when citizens realize the plrysical
and emotz'onal damage suffered ry arson victims; and
WHEREAS, juvenile arson andyouth-set fires results in over 300 deaths and 2,000 i1ifuries annuallY and $300 million in
property damage and more than 40,000 incidents annual!y/ and
WI-IEREAS, over half if the arsons in the country are caused ry Juveniles and young children,- and
WHEREAS, the pn'ce that America pqys for youth-set fires is extreme,. most of the lives lost are those if the very thildren
setting the fires; and
WHEREAS, in addition to the cost of the damaged property, there is the cost to the tvmmuniry of the increasing resources
needed to fight the problem,. and
WHEREAS, the suppor~and promotion of National Arson Awareness Week will honor all that is best within humanity Iry
fomJing our collutive 1[orts on a community solution.
