DUBLIN CALIFORNIA Special Meeting: October 18, 2023
A Special Meeting of the Youth Advisory Committee was held on Wednesday, October 18,
2023, at the Dublin Senior Center. The meeting was called to order at 7:02 PM by Chairperson

2.1) Public Comment
Susan Gardner, Teen Librarian, reported on the library's November calendar of events,
highlighting their Bingo night, the teen craft and movie night, and the SAT seminar and
practice days.

3) CONSENT CALENDAR
3.1) Approved September 27, 2023, Regular Youth Advisory Committee Meeting Minutes.
On a motion by Committee Member Ferozy, seconded by Committee Member KarurParekh,
and by unanimous vote, the Committee adopted the Consent Calendar.

5) NEW BUSINESS
5.1) Youth Mini -Grant Presentations and Funding Recommendations
Youth Mini -Grant applicants made presentations to the Committee.
Vice Chairperson, Yma Santos, recused herself due to being a member of the Dublin Asian
Student Association and left the room. Committee Member, Neel KarurParekh, recused
himself due to being a member of Gardeners of the Galaxy and left the room.
Committee Member William Chen left the meeting at 8:50 PM.
The Committee rated applicant presentations and recommended the following funding
awards:
1. Books Like Me, Inc. - $0.00
2. Dublin High School Green Earth Club - $250.00
3. Dublin High School National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI) - $450.00
4. Dublin Asian Student Association - $0.00
5. Dublin High School Speech and Debate - $500.00
6. Dublin Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) - $500.00
7. Gardeners of the Galaxy - $500.00
8. Girl Up Dublin - $0.00
9. Poverty Patch -Up - $0.00
10. The Student Climate Corps - $300.00

On a motion by Committee Member Molnar, seconded by Committee Member Ferozy, and by
unanimous vote, the Committee approved the Mini -Grant funding recommendations as stated
above totaling $2,500.

room.
5.2) 2024 Dublin Benefit Concert Work Plan and Ad Hoc Committee
Nicki Wanzenried, Recreation Coordinator, presented the 2024 Dublin Benefit Concert Work
Plan.
On a motion by Committee Member KarurParekh, seconded by Committee Member
Haggmark, and by unanimous vote, the Committee approved the 2024 Dublin Benefit Concert
Work Plan, and appointed Arya Ferozy, Sam Haggmark, Danica Molnar, Natasha Prabhu,
Nithila Sadheesh, and Rishika Singh to the 2024 Dublin Benefit Concert Ad Hoc Committee.

Nicki Wanzenried, Recreation Coordinator, presented the annual Holiday Tree Lighting event
and requested volunteers.
Committee members discussed the item and volunteered to work the annual Holiday Tree
Lighting event.

5.4) Amendment to the 2023-24 Youth Advisory Committee Work Plan
Nicki Wanzenried, Recreation Coordinator, presented the amendment to the 2023-24 Youth
Advisory Committee Work Plan to include an additional event.
On a motion by Committee Member KarurParekh, seconded by Committee Member Ferozy
and by unanimous vote, the Committee voted to not amend the 2023-24 Youth Advisory
Committee Work Plan.
RESULT: PASSED [UNANIMOUS]
