Meeting, as soon as it is so delivered.

2.1. Public Comment
At this time, the public is permitted to address the Senior Center Advisory Committee on non-agendized items. Please step
to the podium and clearly state your name for the record. COMMENTS SHOULD NOT EXCEED THREE (3) MINUTES. In
accordance with State Law, no action or discussion may take place on any item not ap pearing on the posted agenda. The
Senior Center Advisory Committee may respond to statements made or questions asked, or may request Staff to report
back at a future meeting concerning the matter. Any member of the public may contact the Recording Secretary’s Office
related to the proper procedure to place an item on a future Senior Center Advisory Committee agenda. The exceptions
under which the Senior Center Advisory Committee MAY discuss and/or take action on items not appearing on the agenda
are contained in Government Code Section 54954.2(b)(1)(2)(3).
3. CONSENT CALENDAR
Consent Calendar items are typically non-controversial in nature and are considered for approval by the Senior Center
Advisory Committee with one single action. Members of the audience, Staff or the Senior Center Advisory Committee who
would like an item removed from the Consent Calendar for purposes of public input may request the Chair to remove the
item.
3.1. Minutes of the August 2, 2018 Regular Senior Center Advisory Committee
Meeting
The Senior Center Advisory Committee will consider approval of the minutes of the
August 2, 2018 Regular Meeting.

7.1. Quarterly Day Events at the Dublin Senior Center
The Advisory Committee will discuss their role in assisting Staff with planning and
implementing free quarterly day events at the Dublin Senior Center during the months
of October 2018 through May 2019.

The Advisory Committee will review and provide feedback on the Dublin Senior
Center informational pamphlet.

The August 2, 2018 Regular Meeting of the Senior Advisory Committee was called to order at
9:37 AM at the Dublin Senior Center by Chair C. Mack.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

Quarterly Day Events at the Dublin Senior Center
Prepared by: Tyler Phillips, Recreation Coordinator
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:
The Advisory Committee will discuss their role in assisting Staff with planning and
implementing free quarterly day events at the Dublin Senior Center during the months of
October 2018 through May 2019.
STAFF RECOMMENDATION:
Assist Staff with planning and implementing free quarterly day events at the Dublin
Senior Center.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
N/A
DESCRIPTION:
At the June 7, 2018, Senior Center Advisory Committee meeting, the Committee
established a work plan consisting of goals and objectives. One of these goals is to
assist staff with planning and implementing free quarterly day events at the Dublin
Senior Center.
The following events are in the development stages:
Senior Info. Fair:
· The Senior Info. Fair is an event for agencies and organizations to provide
valuable information, referrals, and health services for older adults, their families,
caregiver's, and friends.
o This event is scheduled for Saturday, October 6, 2018.
Halloween Costume Contest:

· The Halloween Costume Contest will be held during the lunch program.
Participants are encouraged to wear a costume or anything that gets them in the
Halloween spirit. Participants will be given a chance to vote on their favorite
costume and win a prize.
o This event is scheduled for Wednesday, October 31, 2018.
Holiday Concert:
· The Holiday Concert will showcase the Dublin Senior Center’s Melody Minstrels
group along with donated light refreshments.
o This event is scheduled for Friday, December 14, 2018.
Art Showcase:
· The Art Showcase will display art projects created by art students at the Dublin
Senior Center. This event will invite family, friends, and other local seniors to
meet the artists and view their work.
o This event is scheduled for a weekday during February 2019.
Discovery History:
· The Discovery History event will offer seniors a chance to learn about the rich
history of Dublin and the surrounding areas.
o This event is scheduled for a weekday during May 2019.

informational pamphlet.

DESCRIPTION:
At the June 7, 2018, Senior Center Advisory Committee meeting, the Committee
established a work plan consisting of goals and objectives. One of these goals is to
assist Staff with implementing a Dublin Senior Center informational pamphlet.
Staff has created an informational pamphlet with current photos and updated
information. This pamphlet will be used to promote senior activities, programs,
volunteer opportunities, and attract new participants to visit the Dublin Senior Center.
The pamphlet will be distributed throughout the community, focusing on the senior
housing communities. The goal of the pamphlet is to increase awareness of the Dublin
Senior Center facility, programs, and services that are offered.

Daily Lunch Program
Enjoy a hot, nutritious lunch at the Dublin
Senior Center, provided by Open Heart
Kitchen, in cooperation with the Area Agency
on Aging of Alameda County, and the City of
Dublin (age 60+).
A lunch reservation is required to guarantee
a meal.
Reservations may be made no later than
1:00 p.m. at least one business day prior
(reserve by Friday for Monday’s meal), and up
to one week in advance.
Volunteer Opportunities
Lift your spirit and that of others by
volunteering. Many positions are available, or
create a new one. Training is provided in all
areas. Please contact the Senior Center to
fi nd out how you can volunteer.
Senior Center Advisory Committee
The Senior Center Advisory Committee consists
of fi ve members who serve four-year staggered
terms. This Committee makes recommendations
related to the operation and maintenance of
an effective and effi cient Senior Center for the
residents of Dublin. The Senior Center Advisory
Committee meets on the fi rst Thursday of each
month at 9:30 a.m.
Dublin Senior Foundation
Incorporated on October 6, 1997, the Foundation
is a charitable, non-profi t, tax-exempt corporation
that was founded to benefi t seniors in the Dublin
area. They promote the Dublin Senior Center’s
growth and development, and support programs
that meet the needs of Dublin area seniors. The
Foundation also assists in raising funds for the
Senior Center. The Foundation meets on the fi rst
Wednesday of each month at 10:00 a.m.

Punch Card Program
The Senior Center offers a punch card for a one-
time fee of $20, after which you can purchase
punches to be used for drop-in programs. This
is a convenient and easy way to engage in the
programs and help support the Senior Center.
Fee Assistance Program
This program provides eligible Dublin seniors
financial assistance to participate in City-
sponsored recreation programs. This allows
seniors the opportunity to have quality
recreational experiences that may not be possible
without assistance.
