August 3, 2017 Regular Meeting.

August 3 , 2017
A Regular Meeting of the Dublin Senior Center Advisory Committee was held on Thursday,
August 3, 2017 at the Dublin Senior Center. The meeting was called to order at 9:35 AM by CM
E. Mack. CM C. Mack arrived at 9:40 AM.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
The pledge of allegiance to the flag was recited by the Advisory Committee, Staff, and those
present.
ROLL CALL
Advisory Committee Members (CM) Present: Kaur, C. Mark, E. Mack, Salsman
Advisory Committee Members (CM) Absent: None
Liaison Present: Michelle Smith McDonald, Parks and
Community Services Commission Liaison
Staff Present: Jochner, Phillips
ORAL COMMUNICATIONS
3.1 PUBLIC COMMENTS – None.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
4.1 Regular Meeting May 4, 2017
On a motion by CM Salsman, seconded by CM Kaur and by a vote of 3-0-0 with Commissioner C.
Mack absent, the Advisory Committee took the following action:
ACTION
Approved minutes of the May 4, 2017 Senior Center Advisory Committee Regular Meeting as
presented.
WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS – None.
UNFINISHED BUSINESS – None.
NEW BUSINESS
7.1 Spring 2017 Quarterly Report
Mr. Rich Jochner, Recreation Supervisor, presented the item as outlined in the Staff Report.
The Committee asked why van trips were only on Saturdays. Staff answered that currently the
van driver has a full-time job and can only drive on Saturdays. The Committee asked why
volunteer hours were lower. Staff responded that several front desk and voluntee r instructors
took time off for various family reasons.
ACTION
The Advisory Committee received the Report.

7.2 Senior Center Registration Program Update
Mr. Tyler Phillips, Recreation Coordinator, presented the item as outlined in the Staff Report.
ACTION
The Advisory Committee received the Report.
OTHER BUSINESS
CM McDonald reported on the Dublin Unified Board of Trustees approving a resolution to
initiate the process of transitioning the District from “at-large” elections to “by-Trustee-area”
elections starting in November 2018. She also mentioned the District was looking for Senior
Citizen Representatives for the Parcel Tax Oversight Committee and the Citizens Bond Oversight
Committee.
CM C. Mack reported on the July Grand Opening Celebration for Valor Crossing, a community
targeted to U.S. veterans and their families, seniors, and people with disabilities.
ADJOURNMENT
There being no further business to come before the Senior Center Advisory Committee, the
meeting was adjourned at 10:12 AM.
