Ski Resort. The event will take place on February 13, 1998, a no school day. The cost of the trip is $52 for
residents and$60 for non-residents.
The other event that is in the process of being planned is a Billiards Bash at Room With A Cue in Dublin. The date

CM. Garren stated that having the Billiards Bash during Spring Break is a bad idea and that it would lower the
attendance of the event. The majority of the Committee seemed to agree with her.
CM. Yniguez stated that holding the event on a Friday night or a Sunday night when there was no school on
Monday would be a better time to have the event.
CM. Garren stated that she has contacts for DJ's for the Billiards Bash.
Wierschem asked how the Committee wanted to promote the Ski Trip and the Billiards Bash.
CM. Chapman brought up the idea of pre-sale discount tickets at school before the night of the event.
CM. Garren brought up the idea of having prizes as incentives for the first thirty people at the door.
Goss suggested advertising a Pool Tournament.
CM. Gill stated that promotion will work better when the students rather than the staff do the promoting. The
Committee would promote the events using flyers, posters, and by word of mouth.
CM. Garren stated that promoting the events during Basketball games is a good way to get the information to the
other students and she offered to promote the ski trip at the next game.
CM. Seals also stated that using Channel 30-Youth Forum to advertise upcoming events and Parent Letters would
be some other ways to promote the events.
CM. Thuman said he would look into making arrangements for Police Reserves or Crime Patrol to attend the
Billiards Bash.
The Committee agreed to help promote the events and would like to put together a sub- committee to work on the
event.
There was no motion for the Teens Events. The events will be placed on the unfmished section of the next agenda
statement for further discussion and review.
Brainstorming and Planning
Recreation Coordinator Wierschem wanted to take the time to review a Teen Forum that happened back in 1995.
Wierschem summarized the Teen Forum that was held several years ago and went over the top ten teen issues that
were identified at that time. She asked that the Committee look at the list and see how appropriate it is for today
and also that the Committee brainstorm and come up with alternatives to these issues as appropriate.
IT WAS MOVED BY CM. CHAPMAN AND SECONDED BY CM. GARREN TO HAVE A TEEN FORUM IN
THE NEAR FUTURE TO ASSESS THE SITUATION WITH THE TEENS IN DUBLIN AND TO SOLVE THE
PROBLEMS AND ALSO PROPOSE TO CHECK OFF THE TOP THREE CONCERNS ON THE TOP TEN
TEEN ISSUES AND TURN THEM IN BEFORE THE NEXT MEETING TO BE COMPILED.
