YOUTH ADVISORY COMMITTEE
MINUTES OF: October 1, 1998
The October 1, 1998 meeting of the Youth Advisory Committee was called to order at 7:40 p.m. at the Dublin Civic Center Regional Room,
Dublin, California, by Recreation Coordinator Wierschem.
Pledge of Allegiance
Pledge of Allegiance was led by Recreation Coordinator Wierschem.

Committee members Present: Arcuri, Chapman, Christiansen, Ervin, Pedersen, Cramer, Gillmore, Gill,Markin, Cellotti , Ashby , Wierschem,

New Business
Club Groove Evaluation
Teen Recreation Specialist, Ashby, reviewed Club Groove with Youth Advisory Committee. Club Groove was a back to school dance for High
School teens, that was held at the Shannon Community Center on Friday, September 11`h. The event started at 8:00 p.m. and ended at 12:00 a.m.
Admission cost was $5.00 at the door. approximately 70 teens showed up. Gill stated that she was disappointed by the turnout from the Dublin
High Football Team. Pederson explained that people were having fun. Arcuri added that most people expected a greater turnout. Christiansen
suggested to have the next dance on a Saturday. Arcuri added that increased advertisement, including poster and balloons in parking lots.
98/99 Activities Calendars
The Committee reviewed and discussed all local middle and high school, and Friday Night Live events, holidays, in addition to Y.A.C. meetings
and events. Arcuri presented a calendar that will serve as the official event calendar for the Y.A.C. Gill motioned to approve and Ervin Second.
The Calendar passed.
Youth Advisory Committee Elections
Youth Advisory Committee elections were deferred to the next meeting by Recreation Coordinator Weirschem because the Y.A.C. did not have
100 percent attendance by members.
Goals and Objectives for 1998/99
Recreation Coordinator Weirschem stated the purpose of the Y.A.C. and recommended that the Y.A.C. adopt the following objectives for 98/99
1. Provide input on youth services and programming
2. Address issues that effect youth
3. Assist with the promotion and implementation of youth activities.
4. Generate an annual report status of youth in the community.
Y.A.C. also reviewed recommendations made by 98 Y.A.C.
Ski and Snowboard Trip
Y.A.C. reviewed previous year ski trip flyer. Alger suggested the Ski and Snowboard trip, be a overnight event. Pederson agreed that it should be
opened to middle and high school kids. Advisor Celotti suggested to have a parent info. meeting. A committee was formed that consisted of
Chapman, Gill, Alger, Arcuri, Cramer and Robinson.
Next meeting will be November 5, 1998 at 7:30 p.m. at the Dublin Civic Center

Being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 9:05 p.m.
