BACKGROUND
ADVISORY COMMISSION
7
ThelAlameda County Area Agen' on
q q((AAA) also known as Planning
and Service Area (PSA) #9 was one
of the first AAAs established by
the State Department of Aging in
1974.
Since that time the AAA has played
an active role in developing new
programs and coordinating Older
American Act programs for the
County`s residents 60 years of age
and older.
The Alameda
Aging (AAA)
the Alameda
Agency.
County Area Agency on
is a division within
County Social Services
It is governed by the five member
Board of Supervisors of Alameda
County. The Advisory Commission
on Aging consists of 21 members
who represent various cities within
the County. Over 75 percent of the
Advisory Commission members are

Tunds to meet and expand services for
this client group.
OBJECTIVES OF AAA

coordinated service system for older

WHAT IS AN AREA PLAN?
The Area Agency on Aging is required
by the State of California's Depart-

that addresses them is known as the
Area Plan.
The Plan acts as a guideline for AAA
