MEETING DATE:
SUBJECT: Street Banners—Summer Concert Series
Report by, John Hartnett, Heritage and Cultural Arts Supervisor
ATTACHMENTS: 1. Five Individual Banner Designs
RECOMMENDATION: Review design proposals and recommend preferred banner design to
the City Council
FINANCIAL STATEMENT: $17,335 is available for the project
DESCRIPTION: The City Council identified as a high priority goal for Fiscal Year
2005-2006 to "Purchase additional banners to advertise the Summer Concert Series throughout the
City". $17,335 was included in the Capital Improvement Program budget for.the design of the new
banners and to purchase 66 banners.
The funds will provide enough banners to hang one on each light pole that has exiting banner hardware on
Dublin Boulevard, from Donlon Way to Tassajara Road. The project will also provide additional banners
and hardware to expand the banner program east on Dublin Boulevard from Tassajara Road to Keegan
Street, as well,as the light poles that will be installed in the future from Keegan Street to Fallon Road.
Based on the quote received from the City's banner program vendor, sufficient funds are available to
proceed with the project.
. Staff has worked with a graphic designer who has created five distinct banner designs for the
Commission's review. The new banners would be integrated into the existing arterial street banner
program. They would be compatible in material, size, and feel to the existing banners. The goal of the
banner program is to create banner designs that would promote a sense of community pride and
uniqueness for the City of Dublin. The banner selected will be hung annually from approximately mid-
June through the first week in August to promote the City's annual Summer Concert Series.
RECOMMENDATION:
Staff recommends that the Heritage and Cultural Arts Commission review and select the preferred banner
design for recommendation to the City Council.
