SUBJECT: Murray Schoolhouse Exhibit Design Interview Panel

RECOMMENDATION: Make appointment of a representative to sit on the interview panel
for the Murray Schoolhouse Exhibit Design Consultant.
FINANCIAL STATEMENT: $9,000 as been budgeted to hire a consultant to create an exhibit
design for the Murray Schoolhouse.
DESCRIPTION: In 2003-2004 the Dublin City Council rated as a high priority goal:
"to refurbish exhibit space within the Murray Schoolhouse to provide a fresh setting that will optimally
highlight Dublin's history". During Fiscal Year 2003-2004, an exhibit design consultant will be
contracted to create the layout of the museum.
The selected consultant or firm will design a cohesive permanent exhibit that utilizes innovative and
interactive methods. The consultant will design seven exhibits that utilize a variety of interpretive
techniques and learning styles to reach a broad audience.
The interview panel will be responsible for reviewing the specifications and parameters of the project,
reviewing the consultants proposal, participating in the interview process and recommending the finalist
to the City Council.
As per the Bylaws and Rules of Procedure for the Commission, the Chairman "appoints committees and
chairpersons of committees as necessary".
RECOMMENDATION: It is the recommendation of Staff that the Chairperson appoint one
Heritage and Cultural Arts Commission representative to sit on the interview panel for the Museum
Exhibit Design Consultant.
