FINANCIAL STATEMENT: Sufficient funds are contained in the approved 1987-88
Budget
DESCRIPTION The City currently uses part-time employees in several
departments. The most extensive use of part-time employees occurs in the
Recreation Department. However, the Planning Department Intern and the
Crime Prevention Specialist are also part-time employees. The City also has
a general classification for part-time Clerk Typist. This is a
classification which has been filled in the past by entry-level high school
students . There are no employees currently serving in this classification.
Staff has conducted surveys of surrounding agencies to determine current
market ranges. The proposed ranges represent the results of the surveys and
adjustments made to expand our recruiting capabilities . For example, both
the Planning Intern and the Recreation Intern positions are intended for
college students attempting to obtain work experience. Given our geographic
location, it is necessary to have the flexibility to attract potential
candidates who may have commuting, expenses . Many potential candidates
attending Bay Area Colleges and Universities live in other areas.
Attached is a comparison of the current ranges and the proposed ranges. A
notation has also been made as to the date of the last adjustment. The
proposed ranges will not affect the current budget. The assignment of
employees to a specific hourly salary is based on the individual ' s
qualifications and performance.
Staff would recommend that the City Council adopt the proposed resolution.

RESOLUTION NO. 87
-k, ,A,.RESOLUTION- OF THE•'CITY--COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF DUBLIN
ESTABLISHING A SALARY PLAN FOR
PART-TIME PERSONNEL
WHEREAS, the City Council has adopted Resolution No. .
96-86 Amending the Salary and Benefit Plan; and
WHEREAS, subsequent to that action, the City •Council
amended Full-Time salaries through the establishment of a Salary
Plan contained in Resolution No. 68-87; and
WHEREAS, competitive salary provisions which will
attract quality employees are important to the provision of public
services; and
WHEREAS, it is desirable to update salary provisions for
part-time employees in the City's Personnel System.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the part-time salary
provisions enacted in Resolution No. 96-86 (Section C) shall be
superseded by this resolution.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the following part-time
hourly salary provisions shall be established in accordance with
the City of Dublin Personnel Rules:

The following part-time classifications shall be paid hourly
salaries within the ranges shown below:
