FINANCIAL STATEMENT: Dublin' s estimated share is approximately $111,700.
This cost would be incurred during Fiscal Year 1988-
89 .
DESCRIPTION Alameda County voters approved a 1/2 cent sales tax
increase to fund identified street and freeway improvement projects
throughout the County of Alameda. One of these projects to be constructed
was the improvement of the 1-580/1-680 Interchange with a total estimated
cost of $54 million. Measure B required that $10 million or 18.5 percent of
the cost of these improvements come from local sources.
Representatives from the Cities of Livermore, Pleasanton, and Dublin,
Alameda County and the Alameda County Transportation Authority have met and
have identified the possibility of phasing the I-580/1-680 Interchange
Improvements . The first phase that could be constructed at this time would
provide a doubling of the capacity of the westbound 1-580 to northbound
1-680 ramp. The estimated cost of this ramp improvement is $2,054,000 . The
local share required by Measure B would be $380,000. Representatives from
the agencies identified above have agreed that it would be very desirable to
proceed with this project at this time in order to achieve a very
substantial traffic improvement benefit for relatively small cost. Staff
from the four agencies are proposing that the County of Alameda pay $45 ,000,
and the Cities of Dublin, Livermore, and Pleasanton pay an equal one-third
share of the balance of the local match required. The City of Dublin' s
estimated share at this time would be approximately $111,700.
The County Transportation Authority Staff has requested that an early
commitment be received from the Cities so that the design can be commenced
and completed on this ramp project.
If the City Council were to indicate its approval of this project , the City
would be required to forward its share to the Alameda County Transportation
Authority in December of 1988 (Fiscal Year 1988-89) .
It is important for the City Council to recognize that the share could
increase or decrease depending on the bids received from Contractors on this
project . If the bids came in substantially more than anticipated, the City
would have the right to reconsider its commitment .
