Roll Call Committee Members (CM) Present: Holly Ito, Ramona Krausnick, Jerrie Lore, Absent: Beth Brizee, Eddie Jo Mack Parks and Community Services Commission Liaison: Janine Thalblum Staff Present: Rich Jochner, Recreation Supervisor; Anna Hudson, Recreation Coordinator; Diane Guenther, Office Assistant Oral Communications 3.1 Public Comments Linda Spencer, from Valley Children's Museum provided, the Advisory Committee Members with an overview of their long term goal to build a children's museum in Dublin. The program currently serves approximately 3,500 visitors a year through public outreach, and is almost fully staffed by volunteers; one part-time employee. Written Communication—None Unfinished eusiness -None New Business 7.1 Recap of Day Trip to Senior Centers COPIES TO: G:ACOMMISSIONS&COMMI"I�T1:ES\SRAI�VCM�11�,AMinutcs\201�ASCi1C:Minutes 07022015.doc CITY OF DUBLIN SENIOR CEtiTF,R ADVISORY COMMITTEE MINUTES OF JULY 2,2O1 S Page 2 of 2 The Advisory Committee Members discussed the differences between Pleasanton Senior Center and San Ramon's Alcosta Senior and Community Center, in order to compare them with the Dublin Senior Center. The Committee Members noted that Pleasanton Senior Center stated they had an average daily lunch attendance of 40-60. It was mentioned that Pleasanton used a drop in format versus the pre- registration format used at the Dublin Senior Center. Staff will discuss the possibility of changing to a drop in format with Open Heart Kitchen. The Committee Members asked Staff to arrange a future meeting to coincide with their having lunch at the Shamrock Cafe so they can to better evaluate the Open Heart meals. It was suggested Staff arrange a visit to Pleasanton and San Ramon Senior Centers annually or every two years. A further suggestion was made to possibly add visits to Livermore and Hayward/Castro Valley Senior Centers. CM Ito asked about a transportation program in Dublin, and suggested that informational flyer about transportation options be developed. Other Business Commissioner Thalblum and Staff reported the Parks Commission approved the Senior Center marque. The proposal has gone to City Council.
