The following is a summary of the 2015 winter quarter. A detailed attendance report can be found in Attachment 1. Daily Attendance 230 211 203 210 204 Total Volunteer Hours 2,635 3,074 3,521 3,429 3,231 The Senior Center experienced a 6% increase in Programs and Activities attendance, and 7% increase in total Senior Center attendance. Total volunteer hours decreased by 14%. On July 1, Open Heart Kitchen (OHK) began providing a congregate lunch meal program at the Dublin Senior Center. The Senior Center volunteers who previously volunteered directly with the Senior Center now volunteer directly with OHK. Staff estimates that four volunteer hours are provided by OHK each day. Summary of the Winter Attendance Comparison Some programs showing large increases in attendance were Ballroom Dance Drop-in (+79%), Fit Over Fifty (+70%) and Balance and Agility (+25%). The daily lunch program attendance increased 39% from a year ago. ITEM NO: 7.1 GG:\COMMISSIONS&COMMITTEES\SRADVCMTE\Statements\2015\4-2-15 Statement 7.12015 Winter Quarterly Report.doc December 2014 Highlights • The trips included A Holiday Factory Tour, a visit to the Hilmar Cheese Factory, and sightseeing of holiday displa��s in San Francisco. • Fifty-seven seniors attended the Holiday Luncheon with food provided by PBS Catering and entertainmerrt by singer Manuel Romero. • A Tai Chi Chuan practice group was offered on Tuesdays. January 2015 Highliglits • The City of Dublin City Council presented a Certificate of Appreciation to the following organizations that donated funds for special events, or provided in-kind donations. A total of $1,950 in don;�tions were collected during the 2014 calendar year. Brizee and Jerrie Lore were appointed to one four-year term; Eddie Jo Mack was reappointed tc� a second four-year term. • A trip to the NASA Space Museum in Milpitas was offered. • An afternoon I�allroom dance social attracted 54 dance enthusiasts. This dance social will be offered on the 4t" Friday of each month, 1:30 to 4:00 PM. February 2015 Highli�;hts • We welcome, lanine Thalblum as the new Parks and Community Services Commissioner liaison to the Dublin �>enior Center Advisory Committee With Philip Tucker as the alternate. • The Chocolate Tasting Luncheon attracted 29 seniors to a chocolate presentation and taste testing sessior�. The food was catered by Casa Orozco and singer/pianist Janice Reid provided tunes from ye:>teryear. The Rotary Club provided fresh roses to each attendant. • The afternoon ballroom dance social drew 50 dancers who enjoyed an afternoon of ballroom and line dance witl� light refreshments. Testimonials December 2014 1 have found everyonE� to be very friendly and outgoing when 1 first started coming to volunteer. 1 didn't know anyone in this area. 1 now feel that 1 belong here in Dublin. 1 am very impressed with the various classes and activities vffered.
