SUBJECT: Fallon Sports Park Public Art Selection Committee

RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends Commission select one Commissioner and one
alternate to serve on the Public Art Selection Committee
FINANCIAL STATEMENT: None
DESCRIPTION: In May 2014 the City Council approved the 2014-2019 Capital
Improvement Program (CIP), including the public art project for Fallon Sports Park.
Staff is prepared to proceed with this project and will invite the six artists, approved by Council at the
May 4, 2014 City Council Meeting to be retained in a pool of pre-qualified artists for this project, to
develop site specific proposals for consideration by a Public Art Selection Committee.
On September 2, 2014, the City Council approved following makeup of the Public Art Selection
Committee for Fallon Sports Park:
Heritage and Cultural Arts Manager — Facilitator(Non-Voting)
Parks and Facilities Development Manager — Technical Advisory (Non-Voting)
Architect of Record — Designer (Non-Voting)
1) Heritage and Cultural Arts Commissioner
1) Parks and Community Services Commissioner
1) Senior Center Advisory Committee Member
1)Youth Advisory Committee Member
1) Public Artist (invitational based on scope of project)
1) Art Educator from a Dublin school
1) Dublin Fine Arts Foundation Board Member
1) Community Member — Dublin Unified Soccer League
1) Community Member— Dublin Little League
2) Community Members at Large
Staff anticipates a Selection Committee orientation date of Wednesday, October 29, 2014, and the
artwork review panel on Saturday, November 1, 2014.

At this time, Staff is seeking recommendation of a Heritage and Cultural Arts Commissioner to serve on
the Public Art Selection Committee, as well as an alternate in the event the selected member is not
available.
