AGENDA STATEMENT
CITY OF SENIOR CENTER ADVISORY COMMITTEE
DUBLIN MEETING DATE: APRIL 3, 2014
SUBJECT: ACTIVITY FEE INCREASE DISCUSSION
Prepared by Anna Hudson, Recreation Coordinator
ATTACHMENTS: None
RECOMMENDATION: Receive Report
FINANCIAL STATEMENT: None
DESCRIPTION: Staff is considering increasing the "drop-in" activity fee.
In order to keep pace with the rising costs, the City of Dublin Parks & Community Services Department is
asking the Senior Center Advisory Committee Members for their opinion about the activity fees charged
at the Dublin Senior Center, and other potential ways to raise revenue, such as establishing a
membership system. All fee changes and charges are recommended and presented by Staff for the
Parks and Community Services Commission's approval.
ACTIVITY FEE
The activity fee was $.75 when the Senior Center opened in August 2005. This fee has incrementally
increased about$.25 every two years. The $1.50 activity fee has been in effect since September 2012.
Staff recommends moving away from collecting fees in quarter increments and working with dollars.
This will be easier for both the customer and for the staff who do money handling.
Comparison of Senior Center activity fees:
Senior Center Drop-in Fee Activity Fee for Residents Activity Fee for Non-res/Non-senior
Dublin $1.50 since 2012 $1.50
Livermore $2.00 $2.00
Pleasanton $1.75 $2.25
San Ramon $2.00 $3.00
RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that the Senior Center Advisory Committee
receive the report and give feedback regarding activity fees.
