CITY_OFD UBLIN_- :- -YOUTHADYISORY COMMITTEE MEETING - 141INUTE�.OF Wedize§ddy, September 25,-2023 CALL TO ORDER - r The September 25, 2013 meeting of the Youth Advisory Committee was called to order at 7:01 PM at the Shannon Community Center by Chairperson Kush Rastogi. i PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE Pledge of Allegiance was led by Chairperson R.4togi. 1 ROLL CALL Committee Members (CM) Present: Sruthi Mukkamala, Jessie Sher, James Wang, Neil Bidi Ben Sher, Kayla Frierson, Alexandra Padnos, Brooke Brunckhorst, Nicki Butler, Kush Rastogi, Angie.Wang, Audrey j Nunez, Alicia Tran, Jeru-iy Dyer, Rebecca DeGuzman Committee Members Absent: Shilp Kothari Liaison Present: Vivian Sung, Parks and Community Services Commission Liaison Staff Present: Henry Siu, Officer Aaron Garth- Dublin Police Adult Member present: Ashley Wolfe ORAL COMMUNICATIONS William L'ai, Public Works Technician, provided a.-brief informational presentation on Safe Routes to School,' specifically the "Walk and Roll to School" event scheduled for October 8, 2013. Mr. Lai encouraged the Youth Advisory Committee Members to walk, bike or carpool to school on that day. Mr. Lai also distributed flyers and asked the Committee Members to promote the event at their schools.- MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING-August 28, 2013 'ON A MOTION BY CM JESSIE SHER, AND SECONDED BY CM BEN SHER AND BY A VOTE OF 10-0-5, THE YOUTH ADVISORY COMMITTEE VOTED TO APPROVE THE MINUTES OF AUGUST 28, 2013 AS PRESENTED. CM'S WANG, NUNEZ, TRAM, DYER, AND j DEGUZMAN ABSTAINED DUE TO THEIR ABSENCE AT THE AUGUST 28, 2013 MEETING. I WRITTEN COMMUNICATIONS-None j UNFINISHED B USINESS—Non e NEW B USINESS j2D13-2014 Youth Mini Grant Program Tinzeline/Work plan - Mr. Henry Siu, Recreation Coordinator, provided the specifics of the item as outlined in the Staff Report. Youth Advisory_ Committee Members established the following application timeline for the 2013-2014 Youth Mil-d Grant Program: Applications available: October 14,2013 �. ;. Applications will be given to all clubs/organizations at the high school and middle school campuses in Dublin. The application will be posted on the City website. The applications wilLalso be sent to the local youth organizations including but not limited to Dublin Little League, Dublin United Soccer, and Tri-Valley Youth Football. Application deadline will be November 22, 2013, at 5:00 PM. Applications can be mailed or submitted in-person at the Shamaon-Community Center located,at 11600 Shannon Avenue. a -Youth Advisory CommitteesMembers will review applications on December 4, 2U13 at a special meeting of the Youth Advisory Committee. Selected applicants will b. ivited to the January 22, 2014 Youth A .sory Committee Meeting to provide a brief presentation to the Committee regarding their program. o. . Selected applicant(S) will be notified of their av,'ard by February 7, 2014. Youth Advisory Committee Members agreed that. this timeline will provide selected applicants the opportunity to expend their funds within the current school year: "splatter" End of Event Evaluation Mr.- Henry Sill, Recreation Coordinator presented the specifics of the item as outlined in the Staff Report. Six Youth Advisory Committee Members volunteered at the "splatter" special event on September 21, 2013. Youth Advisory Committee Members stated they enjoyed volunteering at the "SPLATdemonium" activity even through the rain. The activity consisted of "tagging" participants with powdered paint. The Youth Advisory Committee Members who volunteered suggested that the event coordinators use the _powdered paint for next year's event as well. ©TIER BUSINESS Mr. Henry Siu, Recreation Coordinator, stated that he was contacted by Dublin High School to request that the Youth Advisory Committee- staff .a booth at the Dublin High School Homecoming .camival on October 11, 2013 from 4:00 PM — 7:00 yM. Mr. Siu asked for volunteers to assist in staffing, the booth. The booth activities will include an art activity and possibly a bean bag toss game.
