FINANCIAL STATEMENT: None DESCRIPTION: Staff will solicit ideas from Committee Members regarding potential teen events to be offered by the Parks and Community Services Department. In 2006-2007 a variety of teen events were implemented to offer teens in the community activities for their age group (see chart below). These events gave the opportunity for youths to engage in a positive and safe environment while enjoying the company of their friends. 2006-2007 Teen Events Capture the Cauldron/Creature 132 Youth Music Showcase 66 Paint Ball 6 Dub Town Jam 275 March Madness 40 Tri-Valley Teen Job Fair 700 Dublin Teen Concert- Day on the Glen 200 Dive-In Movie at Swim Center 100 Middle School Dance 337 Total attendance: 1856 Currently there are ten Teen Special Events plus the DubTown Jam and Teen Job Fair in the budget for the 2007-2008 school year. Teen events tentatively planned for the year include: • Capture the Cauldron (October 2007) • Capture the Creature (January 2008) • Two Youth Music Showcases (February , April 2008) • March Madness (March 2008) • Three Middle School Dances (January, March, April 2008) • Tri-Valley Youth Concert in conjunction with the Cities of San Ramon and Danville (May 2008) COPIES TO: ITEM NO.: 7.2 G:AYAC\07\08AGENDASTMNT\7.2 • Dive In Movie at the Dublin Swim Center(Tune 2008) Staff would like input from Committee Members to ensure that the events offered are events which will draw interest from teens in Dublin. The input solicited by the Committee Members will assist Staff in planning future teen events. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends that the Youth Advisory Committee receive the report and provide input on potential teen events. 2 of 2
