MINUTES OF Wednesday,September 26,2012
CALL TO ORDER
The September-.26, 2012 meeting of the Youth Advisory Committee was called to-older at Z 05 PM at the
Shannon Community Center by Chairperson Sung.
PLEDGE OFALLEGIANCE
Pledge of Allegiance was led by Chairperson Sung.

ORAL COMMUNICATIONS—
Staff from the Alameda County Public Health Department (ACPHD) provided an update on the survey
they conducted at the City event- "splatter" on September 22, 2012. The topic of the survey was related to
the accessibility of tobacco products to youth. Alameda County Public Health Department staff shared
with the Youth Advisory Committee (YAC) Members ways in which they could get involved with the
movement against tobacco use among youth and young adults. Staff from ACPHD asked the YAC
Members if they were interested in attending a Dublin City Council and voicing their opinions on the ease
of obtaining tobacco products by youth. Staff from ACPHD stated that if anyone is interested to contact
their office.
MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING-August 22, 2012
ON A MOTION BY CM WANG SECONDED BY CM BRUNCKHORST AND BY VOTE-OF 13-
0-0, THE YOUTH ADVISORY COMMITTEE VOTED TO APPROVE THE MINUTES OF
AUGUST 22, 2012 AS PRESENTED.

NEW BUSINESS
Youth Fee Assistance Fundraising, St. Patrick's Day Festiva!-YAC Information Booth, Dublin Car
Show,and Youth Mini Grant Program Subcommittee Reports
The Youth Fee Assistance Fundraising Subcommittee reported that are currently soliciting local
restaurants to host fundraising nights with a percent of their sales going to the Youth Fee Assistance
Program. The Subcommittee received one response from Los Pericos Restaurant, but they declined at this
time, The St. Patrick's Day Festival- YAC Information Booth and Youth Mini Grant Subcommittee's
stated that they plan to meet after tonight's meeting. The Dublin Car Show subcommittee stated that they
plan to meet at the Dublin Senior Center at 3:30 PM on October 2, 2012. All the Subcommittees will
provide updates on their progress at the next regularly scheduled Youth Advisory Committee meeting.
OTHER BUSINESS
Staff Members Siu and Luna thanked all of the Youth Advisory Committee Member who volunteered at
the "splatter" event on September 22, 2012, specifically at the "Splat"-demonium" activity, The "Splat-
demonium" activity had approximately 100 participants.
On October 12, 2012, Dublin High School is having their annual homecoming celebration and carnival.
The Youth Advisory Committee has committed to have a booth at the carnival with a specific game. The
Youth Advisory Committee will receive $50 from the High School for providing a carnival garne for
participants. Chairperson Sung asked Committee Members what type of game should be offered. Ideas
included: dunk tank, face painting, food/snacks, pumpkin carving and photo booth. CM Castro stated that
many of these activities are already being provided by other Dublin High School groups. Staff Member
Siu stated that at the "splatter" event a carnival game called "porkchop" speedway which consisted of toy
piglets racing in a contained track area was popular. The Heritage and Cultural Arts Division has the
equipment for the game. Staff Member Siu received permission fo-r the Youth Advisory Committee to
use the game equipment. The Youth Advisory Members liked the idea and decided that would be a great
game to offer at the Dublin High Homecoming carnival.
ADJOURNMENT
Being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 7:53 PM by Chairperson Sung.
