Special Event Presentation
A fundraiser was held at Rock n' Jump on April 5th and raised $125 benefiting the Youth Fee Assistance
Program. Staff Member Siu provided an update on the All-America Car Show held April 21st at the
Heritage Park and Museums. The event had over 100 cars displayed for community members to view.
Four food trucks were onsite to provide food for the people in attendance which numbered around 400
throughout the day. Everyone in attendance appeared to have a great time.
Texting while Driving
The Texting and Driving Subcommittee's has had a difficult time creating a video regarding the negative
effects of texting while driving. CM Sung stated that students at Dublin High recently saw the "Every 15
minutes" presentation at school which related to drunk driving. CM Castro suggested that the Youth
Advisory Committee stage a "mock" pull over by Dublin Police for texting while driving near Dublin
High so students can see the consequences when texting and driving. Staff asked Officer Molleson if that
could be a possibility. Officer Molleson will check with Police Management and the School District if
this event can occur. CM Castro volunteered to be "pulled over" by Dublin Police if this event is
approved. Committee Members believe this would be a great way to "spread the word" about the
consequence of being caught texting will driving.
The Special Events Subcommittee Members volunteered at the booth during the St. Patrick's Day Festival
on March 17th and 18th. Committee Members had a spinning wheel where festival goers spun the wheel
for a donation and won various prizes. The committee collected $289 during the weekend, with the
proceeds going to the Youth Fee Assistance Program.
